A Designer's Thoughts: Toy Shop Gold Edition!

Designer Alan Copeland has really outdone himself with Midnight Hollow! In this in-depth review of The Golden Ticket Toy Shop Venue, available exclusively in The Sims 3 Midnight Hollow Gold Edition, you'll find out exactly what makes this a one-of-a-kind venue! 

One of my favorite things about Midnight Hollow is its uniqueness. I love all of the wildly diverse stories you can tell around this town and The Golden Ticket Toy Shop venue, available exclusively with the Gold version of Midnight Hollow, adds a whole new dimension to that storytelling experience.  



This fun new shop comes with the Savvy Seller’s Collection that comes with Midnight Hollow, but also a ton of new items. While there is an old section of the store that shows a time when all of the toys were hand crafted, the upstairs shows how these items are made presently — The Titanic Toy Machine!



 

With over a dozen different toys that it can make, The Titanic Toy Machine has something for all ages!   

 
Some of the items include the new baby mat!


 

Everyone enjoys flying a kite!  But make sure you don’t get struck by lightning!


If your toddler moves to the beat of a different drum, then get them beating that drum as early as possible. Help your little virtuoso get an early start with the new toy drum. 


The new Clown in the Box can be a bit moody. Turn the crank to find out if he will be happy or sad.


We also have the return of Sir-Bricks-A-Lot along with a variety of other new toddler toys like the toy train.

 

And what kid doesn’t want remote controlled cars and robots?!

 

There are a lot more little items that come with The Titanic Toy Machine, including cute little things to decorate with, like these fun toy animal balloons.

Meet Lucien Hyde of Midnight Hollow

Lucien is a tortured artist whose only torturer is himself.  He enjoys being sad and the better he is, the sadder he gets.  It’s his thing.
 

Good morning, Lucien!  Thanks for joining us today.
Hyde:  Aren’t we a little past the general presumption that just because it’s morning that life defaults to being “good”?  Today is the same quagmire of hopelessness and despair as yesterday or the day before that.  

Ok, well then “hello” and again, thank you for joining us.  
Hyde:  *Sigh* Whatever.  

We understand that you’re an artist.  Tell us a little about that.
Hyde:  I don’t define myself as an “Artist”.  I am an observer of the darkness that surround us and reside within us.  I use a variety of media to shine a spotlight on that darkness for the world to see.

Um, OK.  But doesn’t a spotlight actually get rid of darkness?
Hyde:  You must think you’re SO clever.  Typical media.  

Maybe we should change topics.  What brought you to Midnight Hollow?
Hyde:  I used to spend my days on the beach in Sunlit Tides but my girlfriend left me for a Masseuse.  Thanks for bringing up that painful and bitter part of my life.  

I’m sorry to hear that.  Have you met anyone since moving into town?
Hyde: Kara Carter seems pretty interesting.  Or not.  She has a rather eclectic sense of style.  Makes you wonder what secrets she’s trying to cover up with all of that fashion.  

Finally, tell us a little something people might not know about you.
Hyde: My mother says I have a delightful sense of humor.

Katarina's love for dolls came at a young age, she adored them, all of their fashion and all of the possibilities for them. As she aged her only aspiration was to be like her beloved doll. Now with pristine skin and an almost expressionless face she loves everything she sees in the mirror and doesn't want to be alone. She has her eyes set on collector Jack Limb because if anyone can appreciate perfect upkeep of a doll, it's him; but his feelings for that perfect Sarah Holden are standing in her way.


Hello , Katarina, it’s nice to meet…
Stewart: Oh, I’m sure it is!  I could just imagine meeting somebody as fabulous as me and it’s got to be one of the highlights of your life!  But enough about me, what do YOU think about me?

Someone mentioned your eccentric sense of fashion.
Stewart:  They did?  Really? Who?  No, seriously… who said that?!  Was it Jack Limb?  Please tell me it was Jack.

I believe it was Mr. Hyde.
Stewart:  Well, I really am fabulous and Lucien was really sweet to point that out.  But I feel like, what’s the point of being a doll if you don’t have a fantastic wardrobe to play dress up?

Well, since you brought it up… It’s easy to see the comparison between you and a doll.  Your skin is flawless.  Pristine.  Almost plastic.  And is your face is… what’s the most delicate way of putting this?  Is your face stuck like that?
Stewart:  Oh… you’re too kind.  I really have put a lot of work into making sure people always seeing the best ME as possible.  I really am a collector’s edition.  All of my dolls have been just perfect for me.  How can they love me if I’m not doing my best to be perfect for them?

Have you met anyone interesting here in town?
Stewart:  *giggle* Is that your not so subtle way of asking me out?
  
Actually this is just one of the interview ques…
Stewart:  Shhhhh!  It’s OK.  I won’t tell anyone.  But I’m not seeing anyone right now because I have my eye on a certain collector.  Only somebody like Jack Limb would know the right way to properly care for someone like me.  

Jack Limb?  But isn’t he dating Sarah Holden?
Stewart:  You probably can’t tell it from my facial expression right now, but I’m in a full on rage!  How dare you bring up that llama faced loser?!  

Well that’s not very nice.  She seems like a very pleasant person.
Stewart:  I’m so glad I decided not to date you!  If my tear ducts hadn’t been removed I would be sobbing!  This interview is over!

Savvy Seller’s Collection Blog

One of the most iconic things about watching the Harry Potter movies was watching Diagon Alley come to life. I loved that this group of relatable misfits had all found a common ground amongst the hustle and bustle of this small marketplace.

When we were first talking about what Premium Content would come with Midnight Hollow, I wanted to capture the vibe of this group of nonconformists coming together to peddle their wears and oddities.  


Since we’ve had countless requests for The Sims 3 Store to offer additional business gameplay, I couldn’t be happier to be introducing you to the Savvy Seller’s Collection coming exclusively with Midnight Hollow!

 
With this set your Sim can establish their own shop! The Savvy Seller’s Collection comes with a variety of rugs, shelves, pedestals and even parking spots that let you stock your Sims storefront any way you wish. Customers can purchase any item that are placed on these items, or the new Cash Register will keep an inventory of all the items you have for sale for easy, one stop shopping.  
 

You can set up the markup on each shop display or set up a sale for items you want to sell quickly. You can also hire an employee to help run the register.  

The Savvy Seller’s Collection also comes with a new shop door that lets you name your store and set the hours.  

If you don’t want the hassle of having your Sim own a Store there are a plethora of different stores to shop at in Midnight Hollow so you can just go around and browse what others have for sale.  

Midnight Hollow comes out September 26,2013, so make sure your Sims are ready to get to business as soon as it comes out!
